Riza Atav, Alper Topuz, Tolga Arican
Abstract
In order to develop functional flocked woven upholstery fabric with antibacterial properties, firstly optimum conditions of dyeing were determined according to the foam application technique, and then antibacterial agent was added to the foam which was prepared under optimum conditions. The antibacterial tests of the samples were carried out in 5 different stages (unwashed and after 1, 5, 10 and 20 washes) according to the AATCC 100 standard by the agar diffusion method. It has been determined that even at the end of 20 washes, the antibacterial activity is still quite high. These results show that both coloring and antibacterial finishing can be performed in single step. This implies a reduction in cost and environmental hazard, especially due to water, energy and chemical consumption. In addition, it saves time and is advantageous in terms of operating efficiency.
