Effect of Transportation Network Topology on the Capacity and Travel Time Reliability
Ahmed Farah, Hakan Aslan
Abstract
Several conditions control the effectiveness of network topology. For instance, the more the number of circuit of a network, the more the network is connected even in worse conditions if parade comes due to natural hazards. The present study aims to reveal the effect of network topology on the capacity and travel time reliability of transportation networks. A two simple network structures have been compared in terms of travel time and capacity reliability by using two non-equilibrium assignment models. Results show that the network structure with more number of circuits is more reliable in terms of travel times and capacity rather than the other network.
