Evaluation of Social Network in the Context of Privacy and Security

Since the moment when human beings started to live in a group, sharing something as the simplest way of socialization has been important place in the life of mankind. Dazzling advances in pace of the computer and Internet technology, has led to the emergence of cultural sharing environment named as social networking and spread rapidly. With the rapid expansion of social network usage, sharing between individuals has begun to find more places in virtual environments. One of the platforms that individuals share something virtually and simply are social network. In these sharing environments individuals can share their ideas, thoughts, appreciations, or things they don't like, with each others, can make a comment about shared things, can even play games. The latest news about events occurring anywhere in the world can be learned quickly by means of social networks. With each passing day the number of users grow increasingly, social networks, are widely used by large proportions of our society from the workers to the elementary school students. As well as the advantages of the usage of social networks, some risks and threats arising from this usage by individuals come along. Security risks and threats that may be encountered when using social networks, measures must be taken against them and the security and privacy policies to be implemented by individuals are trying to explain in this paper.
