Implementation of Wireless Channel Receiver based on Universal Software Radio Platform

Abstract
This paper presents a novel spectrum monitoring and analyzing system, which simplifies the description of wireless communications basics with IEEE 802.11 b standard. This system setup based on software defined radio (SDR) with the universal software radio peripheral 2 (USRP2) and LabVIEW is designed and implemented. A dipole antenna, USRP2, and a computer are used for hardware components. LabVIEW program has considered to design the extended rate protocol (ERP) direct-sequence spread spectrum (DSSS) / code complementary keying (CCK) receiver functionality. The spectrum of 2412-2472 MHz band with the proposed system is measured. The experimental results show that the spectrum monitoring and analyzing system is capable of detecting the IEEE 802.11b Wi-Fi signals within these bands, and spectrum in this band can be observed.
